Cricket's three formats and major tournaments
To understand cricket betting, it helps to know the difference between formats first, because the type of bet varies with each format. T20 is the fastest version — in just 20 overs, every ball can change the situation, so odds move very quickly. ODI, or one-day cricket, is played over 50 overs, where mid-innings planning and run rate calculations add a different dimension to betting. In Test cricket, the five-day contest can turn at any point — wickets, weather and pitch conditions all play a part.
On the tournament side, BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) is the closest league to fans in Bangladesh, with local excitement running high in every match. India's IPL is the most-followed franchise tournament in the world, drawing the best players from across the globe. And the ICC T20 World Cup and other international series hold a special place for Bangladeshi supporters who follow the Tigers' performances. At okbd, you can join various markets across matches in all these tournaments.
Betting is not limited to cricket — football and other sports are also available at okbd. Those will be covered briefly in the next section.
Betting on football and other sports
Alongside cricket, football is also quite popular in Bangladesh. The markets for Europe's big leagues and international tournaments work rather differently from cricket. In cricket you can bet on many small events — toss, wickets, over-by-over changes — whereas in football markets like match winner, goal scorer or total goals are more common. In cricket a falling wicket can shift odds instantly; in football a goal or a red card does the same.
There are also options for sports like tennis or kabaddi for entertainment. Understanding how each sport works makes betting more enjoyable.
Popular betting markets — how each one works
Each market calls for a different kind of decision and attention. Below are seven common markets explained in plain language.
Match Winner
The simplest market — just pick who wins the match, Team A or Team B. This market is most active in T20 because matches finish quickly.
PopularToss Winner
A bet on which team will win the toss. It has no direct link to the match result, but on certain pitches the toss can play a big role.
Short-termTop Batsman
Which player will score the most runs in an innings? You pick the highest scorer within a team rather than by name. Knowing the team's batting order is useful here.
PerformanceTotal Runs Over/Under
Will the total runs in an innings go above or stay below a set number — a line is given and you decide accordingly.
Over/UnderMulti Bet
Combining multiple selections into one bet. If even one is wrong you lose the whole bet, but if all are correct the odds multiply and the return can be much larger.
Multiple MatchesFirst Wicket Partnership
How many runs will the first two batsmen put on together — you can bet over/under or within a specific range. The focus here is on how the innings gets started.
Innings StartHandicap Betting
One team is given a notional run or wicket advantage to level the two sides. When one team is clearly much stronger, a handicap makes the market more interesting for supporters of the weaker side.
Balanced ContestHow to read odds — decimal, fractional and American
Betting platforms generally show three types of odds formats. All three express the same information in different ways — which one feels more familiar is a matter of personal preference.
Example 1 — Team A wins (stake ৳500)
| Format | How it is written | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.25 | Total return of ৳2.25 for every ৳1 staked (including profit) |
| Fractional | 5/4 | ৳5 profit for every ৳4 staked |
| American | +125 | ৳125 profit on a ৳100 bet |
If Team A wins, a ৳500 bet returns ৳1,125 in total (৳625 profit + ৳500 original stake). If they lose, ৳500 is gone.
Example 2 — Favourite Team B (stake ৳500)
| Format | How it is written | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 1.80 | Total return of ৳1.80 for every ৳1 staked |
| Fractional | 4/5 | ৳4 profit for every ৳5 staked |
| American | -125 | You must stake ৳125 to win ৳100 profit |
If Team B wins, a ৳500 bet returns ৳900 (৳400 profit). A negative American odds figure always marks the favourite.

Multi bet example
If you select three separate matches at decimal odds of 1.40, 1.70 and 1.80, the combined odds become:
1.40 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.28
A ৳100 bet returns ৳428 — but only if all three selections are correct. If even one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.
Multi bets carry higher potential returns but also higher risk. They are for entertainment — not a profit strategy.
Live in-play betting — odds change every over
Live betting is a completely different experience from placing a bet before a match starts. During a match, odds update instantly after every wicket, every boundary and every over. When a team loses wickets quickly, the opposition's odds to win shorten — and betting on that team in-play at that point can offer a comparatively higher return.
In T20 matches, odds move most during the power play overs. If a team loses 3 wickets in the first 6 overs, their chances of winning drop suddenly and the odds reflect that straight away. In ODI, the nature of the odds differs across the innings — power play, mid-innings and death overs each have their own pattern.
Live betting in Test cricket is more complex — pitch condition, weather and even the amount of light on the fifth day can all affect odds. Keeping a close eye on these changes makes live betting much more active and engaging.
Following the responsible gaming guidelines is just as important in live betting — even in fast-moving moments, stay within your budget.
Practical tips for enjoying betting
Cricket betting is part of the entertainment. Keeping the following points in mind makes the experience more controlled.
Choose markets based on the format
Momentum shifts fast in T20, so smaller markets (next over, next wicket) stay more active. In ODI or Test, match winner or session-based markets are comparatively more stable.
Set a budget beforehand
Decide how much you will bet before each session. Placing a large bet to recover a loss is not a good approach — betting is for entertainment, not a source of income.
Learn to read odds
Decimal odds show the total return directly. Fractional odds show only the profit. Being comfortable with both formats makes it easy to bet on any platform.
Be careful with multi bets
Multi bets offer bigger returns but carry equal risk. It is better to practice on single matches first and build experience before moving to multi bets.
Stay calm during live betting
Making quick decisions in the excitement of a match is common. But rather than placing large bets out of impulse, think through each decision carefully.

okbd LoginBetting exchange — understanding back and lay
In traditional betting you back a result — you bet in favour of an outcome. In a betting exchange you can also bet from the other side — this is called a lay bet.
Back bet — example
Backing Team A at decimal odds of 1.80 with ৳1,000: if Team A wins, ৳800 profit before commission; if they lose, ৳1,000 is gone.
Lay bet — example
Laying Team A against a backer of ৳1,000 at the same odds: if Team A does not win, you receive ৳1,000 before commission; if Team A wins, you must pay ৳800 in liability (৳1,000 × 0.80).
Exchange betting is more complex — it comes with experience, and it is better not to rush into it.
